Midnight Family Apple TV+ Review

Midnight Family Apple TV+ Review

As Women in Blue concludes its captivating run, Apple TV+ seamlessly fills the void with its latest family drama, Midnight Family. This compelling addition to the streaming platform ensures uninterrupted entertainment for subscribers and tells the intriguing story of Marigaby and her family, people who spend their lives saving others.

Admittedly, the premise of Midnight Family did not have us nearly as intrigued as Dark Matter or Presumed Innocent, but the two-premiere episode of the series was all set to change our minds.

In this review, we will explore different elements of the pilot episode, and the second episode, so if you’ve been on the fence, this article will have some answers for you!

Welcome to Marigaby’s Complicated Life!

In the opening scene of Midnight Family, we are introduced to the exceptionally hardworking Marigaby, who is juggling several things in her life at once, but does it wonderfully.

For a protagonist, Marigaby ticks off all the boxes, leaving us intrigued about how her character arc will pan out across the series, with several other elements eventually factoring in.

Marigaby might be smart, but if she wants to get a good grade at university, she might have to give her classes a little more importance, but that’s proven difficult with the side hustle she has with her family. Normally family business is a drama series that either involves crime, money, or even food, but Marigaby’s family operates an ambulance instead.

It is safe to say that Marigaby’s family is unique and takes their jobs very seriously, even if sometimes it gets them in trouble. Different characters in this series, along with their unique personalities all add to the overall quality and entertainment of Midnight Family, and the pilot episode is proof of that.

Midnight Family falls on the spectrum of a more light-hearted drama, but some intense moments make for some tear-jerkers that one must be prepared for. Marigaby’s life is a lot more complicated than any other medical student you might know, but these complications continue to build her character arc, whether it involves the love of her life, her friends, family, or even the patients that are brought into the ambulance.

The Tamayo family in general have a lot going on for them, but the narrative is easy to follow, and despite a few different subplots in Midnight Family, you won’t find yourself getting lost.

The second episode of the series is a little more high-stakes compared to the first, and we’re certain that these stakes are going to continue to increase as the series progresses.

Conclusion

The second episode ends with Ramon’s heart condition being out in the open, the one he was hoping to be kept a secret for a little longer. Marigaby is heartbroken upon learning the truth as more drama falls in the lap of the family!
