Elite Season 9

Elite is a fascinating series in the Spanish language that has achieved major success globally. The series is in the teen drama genre and has been going on since 2018 with multiple seasons that have been successful. Season 8 did wind up in late July 2024.

Right after that, the buzz increased around a potential Elite Season 9. Viewers are looking for any announcements from Netflix soon. But till that doesn’t happen, we will look into this thing and find out if Season 9 is happening or not.

What Is Elite All About?

Elite is the creation of Darío Madrona and Carlos Montero and it takes place at a high school named Las Encinas in Spain. In it, we focus on some students from the working class trying to fit into this school that only consists of kids from rich families.

Both Montero and Madrona are also the executive producers of the show with Diego Betancor and Iñaki Juaristi. The series premiered on October 5th, 2018 on Netflix. Elite Season 8 was out on July 26th, 2024.

How Did The Earlier Season End?

Joel tried to challenge him and this resulted in his death. He had earlier blackmailed Carmen to support his friend. So even Carmen and Chloe wanted to get rid of him. Before the cops could arrest Isadora, she managed to poison Luis with something. Las Encinas is shut down temporarily and the seniors are moved to a public school.

Is Elite Season 9 Happening?

Elite Season 9 is not happening because Netflix has canceled it. Deadline reported that the series will not be moving forward after the eighth season. This news was announced by Netflix itself just before the seventh season aired.

It might be because Elite has already become one of the longest-running shows for the streamer in the Spanish language. In the past few years, the show has gone through many changes and the way Season 8 ended, it doesn’t leave much room for Elite Season 9.

Will We See A Spin-off?

So far, Netflix has not announced any spin-offs of Elite. However, it has been adapted into an Indian show called Class which can be visited if viewers plan to enjoy the story in a new flavor.

The region shifts from Spain to New Delhi and is also centered around a school for the kids of the most rich and powerful families. It mostly sticks to the source material but some changes have been made for the local viewers.

If an Elite Season 9 would take place, it would take place outside the world of Las Encinas. The school was closed in the final episode after the murder details of Joel surfaced and shocked everyone.

It might focus on Mina el Hammani (Nadia) and Omar Ayuso as they navigate their lives outside the school and finish their education at some college. But something would happen in their lives that would bring them together. Meanwhile, they will be coping with the demise of Joel and its effect on their wellbeing.

A large part of the audience is sad that this show which they have enjoyed for years, has come to an end. But stretching it wouldn’t have done justice to the story and its quality. It would be worse to see the quality deteriorating with more seasons.

Conclusion

Elite has been a very successful show for Netflix. It managed to move out of its home ground and became a success on a global scale. Similar to Money Heist, the show almost become a part of the modern pop and internet culture.

With the end of Season 8, we have now seen its conclusion as the makers have decided to not move forward with more seasons. But it ended on a very interesting and intense note, giving closure to all the characters and subplots.
