Find Me Falling Review: A Lackluster Dramedy Lands on Netflix

Find Me Falling Review

Find Me Falling is the story of a man named John Allman who moves to Cyprus in hopes of a career break and a break from life. But, his life is soon turned upside down when two women are introduced to the plot. Now, all this might seem a little familiar, and that’s because it is. The tropes that you might find in this movie, have been used and overused in romantic comedies all across the world.

This Netflix movie has a handful of good scenes, one major plot twist, subpar acting, and of course, a beautiful island. In this review, we will explore more aspects of Find Me Falling, and you can decide for yourself whether you want to stream it or skip it!

A Lost Opportunity!

Find Me Falling has an upbeat start as we are introduced to the protagonist of the movie, John Allman. John is the stereotypical man having a mid-life crisis, and frankly, if he wasn’t a part of the opening scene, it could have still worked.

The beauty of Cyprus saves the movie from John’s gloomy personality, and John living so close to a suicide hotspot is definitely something unique.

Melina is also introduced, and once again, neither John nor Melina are exceptionally well-structured characters, and it almost feels like we have seen this movie before. Nevertheless, it is worth sticking around for the rest of the movie, to some extent at least.

Things appear to be moving a little too fast in Find Me Falling and we had to double-check if the speed on Netflix was set to 1.5x, but that wasn’t the case. After John and Melina have a few sweet moments, John runs into an old flame, Sia. Their night ends with them together, and Sia sneaks out the next morning. As we said, it’s fast, so you will have to keep up.

The first half of the movie feels weak, and it almost feels like we are watching Find Me Falling for the beautiful shots of Cyprus as opposed to the over-used premise and average acting. There isn’t much offered to the audience that could possibly keep them glued to the screen, instead, there might just be a yawn or two.

Find Me Falling has one major plot twist to offer in the middle of the movie, and that is the relationship between Sia and Melina, which also links to John. But other than that, this Netflix movie doesn’t have much going on for it, which is disappointing because, in a setting like that, the possibilities were truly endless, but not well utilized.

Conclusion

Ultimately, there are a few good scenes scattered around as the narrative moves forward in Find Me Falling, but once again, it’s something that has been done time and again. But, if we had to pick a favorite character, it would be Melina.
