What Is House of the Dragon All About?

House of the Dragon is an adaptation of George R. R. Martin’s book Fire & Blood which was released in 2018. Serving as a prequel to Game of Thrones, the series takes place a century before the events of its parent show. It focuses on the start of the decline of the House of Targaryens which happened because of the fight over the thrones. It was called Dance of the Dragons.

Ryan Condal and Martin have created the series. It premiered on August 21st, 2022 on HBO and had ten episodes. House of the Dragon Season 2 premiered on June 16th, 2024. The executive producers of the show include Martin, Condal, Miguel Sapochnik, Vince Gerardis, Jocelyn Diaz, Ron Schmidt, and Sara Hess.

What Happened In The Previous Episode?

House of the Dragon Season 2 Episode 1 was called A Son for a Son and it was released on June 16th, 2024. Ryan Condal wrote the episode while Alan Taylor helmed it. In the start, we see Jacaerys Targaryen being promised by Cregan Stark two thousand troops.

We see Rhaenyra Targaryen (played by Emma D’Arcy), who is grieving, arriving at Storm’s End to look at the remains of the dragon of Lucerys.

Rhaenys is asked by Daemon to help in pursuing Aemond and Vhagar who had killed Lucerys. Otto Hightower (Rhys Ifans) continues to advise Aegon II as he tries to manage the kingdom. Jaehaerys is brought to the Council by the King.

Daemon is told by Rhaenyra that she wants Aemond killed for the death of her son. The arrest of Mysaria the White Worm takes place. Daemon strikes a deal to set her free if she helps in getting two killers. Two people are given bribes by Daemon and tasked to murder Aemond. They end up killing Jaehaerys. Helaena escapes with the twin sister of Jaehaerys.

What To Expect From House of the Dragon Season 2 Episode 2?

House of the Dragon Season 2 Episode 2 is directed by Clare Kilner. The episode will start off with the shocking ending of the previous episode. Jaehaerys is murdered by the two men hired by Daemon Targaryen (played by Matt Smith).

However, her twin sister has survived and goes inside the room Alicent. Helaena sees her with Criston Cole as they are in bed. It means that Helaena is in trouble for knowing this secret and her life might be in trouble.

The death of her daughter will distraught Alicent. There will be repercussions to this murder and it might start a wave of war if the two murderers are caught. This event will also alert the King and everyone around.

Meanwhile, Rhaenyra will continue to plan to kill Aemond to avenge the death of her son. House of the Dragon Season 2 Episode 2 will be really interesting as it will start a chain of very dramatic events following the murder of Jaehaerys.
