Apple TV+’s latest drama series, Lady in the Lake, has made plenty of progress with its latest episode, which has been a success after the two-episode premiere. Episode 3 has done a brilliant job of drawing the viewers in, keeping them hooked, and then preparing them for what’s to come next, because clearly, there’s plenty more in store.
Once again, Moses Ingram and Natalie Portman deliver some of the most iconic performances in Lady in the Lake episode 3, which are supported by some powerful dialogues and a splendid supporting cast.
In this review, we will dive into a few more details of this episode, which is now available to stream on Apple TV+, so make sure you stick around!
A Painful Yet Powerful Episode!
Lady in the Lake Episode 3 begins with a flashback that gives a glimpse into young Cleo Johnsons’s life, which was never easy to begin with. In this scene, Cleo shoulders responsibility no young child should have, and looks after her father in a sweet moment, reflecting a mix of Cleo’s innocence and wit.
However, as soon as that flashback is over, we are snapped back to the present time, and it almost causes whiplash because now, Cleo is far from calm and collected. There’s panic, which was obvious after the previous episode’s events.
The narrative of the episode then shifts to the second protagonist, Maddie Schwartz, who is busy getting her ears pierced. While this might appear to be a small task, it is monumental when it comes to Maddie recreating herself after having left her husband and old life behind. Overall, Lady in the Lake is often intriguing, but scenes like these really help build the quality of the series.
The contrast between Maddie and Cleo is shown through the lens of privilege, class, and color, which continues to hold a mirror to society, no matter the decade. While Maddie is busy trying to get a job, Cleo is staring at the news while tending to her ill son. They have struggles, but Maddie and Cleo are never the same.
When it comes to Lady in the Lake, and particularly the most recent episode on Apple TV+, most of the power lies in the dialogue. Admittedly, the scenes are most dialogue-heavy and one has to listen closely so as to not miss out on any of the ongoing subplots, but getting a hold of the story means staying invested because it will keep pulling you in.
Whether you’re watching Cleo’s life unravel in the most traumatic manner or witnessing Maddie catch a break as she attempts to investigate the murder of a young girl, there’s something for everyone in episode 3.
However, beware of some of the more emotional and painful moments that are beautifully portrayed by Moses Ingram, playing the role of Cleo.
Conclusion
Lady in the Lake has now reached a point where they can focus more on the mysterious murder of Tessie Durst, and hopefully, we will get to witness more of that in the next episode, so make sure you keep your eyes peeled out for the same, and of course, our review of it.
