Shahmaran is a show that deals with fantasy elements in a very effective way. This Turkish series was a success with its first season on Netflix. People in Turkey and in other countries thoroughly enjoyed the fantastical storyline as well as the eccentric-natured characters.
The second season of the show came out in August 2024 and was equally well received. People are now speculating that Shahmaran Season 3 might take place very soon. It is up to the streamer to order yet another season that would take the story in other directions.
What Is Shahmaran All About?
The show is helmed by Umur Turagay and penned by Pınar Bulut. It is based on a Turkish book called Şah-ı Mar which Emine Buzkan Kaynak wrote. Şahsu lives in Istanbul and works as a lecturer in the subject of psychology. She meets her grandfather who lives in Adana. He had left her mother decades earlier.
In that region, she finds out about Şahmaran which is a creature in their mythology. She meets a group of people who pray and worship this entity that is half lady and half snake. She bumps into Maran who seems like he is hiding something and things change for her.
Tamer Basaran and Suzan Güverte are the producers of Shahmaran. The series premiered on Netflix on January 20th, 2023 while the second season dropped on August 8th, 2024.
How Did The Previous Season End?
The Season 2 ends with Maran transforming back into a human being but he has the feeling of someone being around him in the particles of the wind. We also see Shahmaran giving up herself for the greater good in the hands of greed.
She is murdered by Mesut as she expresses her feelings on the human conditions that are full of greed.
Is Shahmaran Season 3 Happening?
Netflix has not commissioned Shahmaran Season 3, probably because the second season has just ended. The show has managed to impress viewers but the premise has faced a bit of criticism for being silly.
Given how Netflix has been planning to spread its presence in many countries, we can probably speculate that they will order the second season soon. But this can only happen if Season 2 gets strong viewership, similar to the maiden season.
Shahmaran, before trying, says that she will continue to forgive human beings for their actions. In Shahmaran Season 3, this cycle will move forward as we will see more of how greed destroys things.

Who Will Be In The Cast?
The Season 3, if it actually takes place, might retain the main cast of its show. This includes Serenay Sarıkaya (portraying Şahsu), Burak Deniz (Maran), Mustafa Uğurlu (Davut), Mahir Günşiray (Ural) and Mert Ramazan Demir (Cihan) among others.
The storyline will also demand new faces so we might see a set of fresh actors in the third season. Some characters also died in the third season so they won’t be showing up in the future. This excludes Sahsu.
Netflix is yet to commission Shahmaran Season 3 so it’s hard to speculate when it might release. But it’s not all bleak as we have conjectured it. The first season began in 2023 while the second one dropped in 2024. So if it goes on the floor, The Season 3 can be released sometime in 2025.

Shahmaran is a show that blends some very interesting elements with a story that is not very plausible. Serenay Sarıkaya gives a very powerful performance in the lead role along with all the other actors.
