Osha’s Dilemma: Balancing Hatred and Duty in The Acolyte

In “The Acolyte,” Mae slyly comes into a Jedi Outpost on Olega. She does this by taking advantage of a child’s distraction and getting past the outpost’s security. Mae encounters Jedi Master Torbin, who has been scarred and has been meditating for ten years.

Her attack against his unbreakable Force shield is ineffective. As this is going on, Ohsa awakens on Master Sol’s ship and helps Padawan Jecki Lon with some technical problems. This leads to an awkward conversation concerning Ohsa’s mechanical abilities.

Jedi Knight Yord Fandar interrupts their chat, suspecting Ohsa of being involved in Master Indara’s attack. However, Sol stands up for Ohsa, refuting Yord’s baseless charges. By posing as a modest seeker of wisdom, Sol arranges Ohsa’s exoneration by getting in touch with Jedi Master Vernestra Rwoh.

Yord objects, but the Jedi Order rules in Sol’s favour, letting Ohsa stay under his watch while Sol looks into Torbin’s attack on Olega. Sol negotiates the political complexities of the Jedi Order amid tensions and suspicions to protect Ohsa and find out what is really going on behind the evil attacks.

In “The Acolyte,” Mae confronts Qimir while he’s drinking in a village on Olega. Qimir reveals his loyalty to their dark master and their goal of killing Jedi Master Torbin. Qimir discusses Torbin’s wish for forgiveness as they plan, offering the poison “Bunta” as a way to accomplish their goal. Meanwhile, Sol engages Osha in a heartfelt conversation, touching upon Mae’s presumed demise and Osha’s departure from the Jedi Order.

When they go to the outpost, they stop Mae from infiltrating, which forces them to face Torbin. The Jedi are left confused as Torbin’s disclosure and self-sacrifice follow Mae’s offer of forgiveness via poison.

Feeling Torbin’s death, Sol rushes to the scene, and Osha, smelling the poison, clears her name with Yord’s surprising help. The Jedi’s perspective is altered as Torbin’s voluntary death is revealed, revealing the layers of deceit and mystery underlying Mae’s mission and the intents of their evil master.

Family Ties and Betrayal

In “The Acolyte,” Osha and Sol plan to capture Mae. They trick Qimir into admitting his involvement with the poison by dressing up Osha as Mae, but when he discovers Osha is playing an impostor, he is taken by surprise. With the arrival of Jedi reinforcements, Qimir sets up an ambush by betraying Mae.

Osha and Sol disagree over how to approach Mae; Osha is driven by hatred toward his family, while Sol is advocating for moderation and direction. In the end, they decide to let Sol fight Mae by himself.

When Mae arrives at the shop, Sol challenges her, leading to a tense confrontation where Mae’s lack of proper training raises questions. Gaining the upper hand, Sol examines Mae’s thoughts and finds that she is unsure of her master’s identity. Following Yord and Jecki’s involvement in response to Mae’s emotional outburst, Mae manages to flee from the chaos.

Later in “The Acolyte,” Osha and Mae have a heartfelt reunion outside the outpost, but Osha’s effort to capture her sister is unsuccessful. Osha is left feeling indecisive and conflicted after Mae drives off in a hover car. Sol notifies Vernestra of the development in the meantime, and she gives him the order to wait for the Jedi Council’s decision. Mae approaches Qimir, who discloses that Wookie Jedi Kelnacca is their next target.
