Dark Matter Episode 8 Review: Battle of the Jasons

Dark Matter Episode 8

Dark Matter on Apple TV+ starring Joel Edgerton, Jennifer Connelly, Alice Braga, Jimmi Simpson, Dayo Okeniyi, and Oakes Fegley has reached its penultimate episode, and things have been crazier than ever.

As a concept, Dark Matter has done a deep dive into the concept of the multiverse with the help of “the box” built by a version of the lead character, Jason, who we have named Jason 2.

Now, as Episode 8 drops on the streaming platform, it is time for Jason 2 to face the consequences of his own actions, and it isn’t pretty. There’s almost a little too much happening in Dark Matter Episode 8, and it is enough to leave you confused from time to time, however, considering it is the penultimate episode mixed with the core plot of the series, this part was a long time coming.

In this review, we will talk about some key elements of the episodes, and there will be spoilers ahead.

Does Daniela Finally Know the Truth?

For starters, if you haven’t paid attention to the rest of the series or at least read our reviews and previews, then chances are that Dark Matter Episode 8 will leave you lost and confused. So, we highly recommend doing so before you dive into a Chicago filled with Jasons.

This episode is bound to have you at the edge of your seat, biting your nails, and making you question who the real Jason is, and more importantly, who Jason 2 is, aka the evil one.

This latest episode of the Apple TV+ series reveals that apart from the original Jason, other versions of this character have also reached this universe after the box was left unsealed, and are in search of their family, Daniela and Charlie.

They all want the same thing, and they have to go through Jason 2 to actually get there, and not all of them make it out alive. Turns out, Jason 2 is incredibly strong and does not think twice before killing another Jason. Again, this will all sound confusing, if you haven’t watched the series.

Dark Matter Episode 8 has several revelations but the main one remains that Daniela finally comes to realize just how out of hand matters have gotten, and the one scene that truly kept us on the edge of our seat was when the real Jason and her reunite.

It wasn’t a big romantic kiss in a garden, but instead, Daniela’s mistrust finally showed, only at the wrong time.

Nevertheless, she and Charlie eventually managed to escape from Jason 2, making their way to Jason 1 with the keyword, “Jupiter,” which is also the episode title, carefully and beautifully crafted. There’s something to look forward to at every minute of Dark Matter Episode 8, making it a brilliant penultimate episode and eager for the season finale.

Conclusion

Jason 1, Daniela, and Charlie have finally found their way to each other, but Jason 2 is still alive and will stop at nothing to make his way to them. Make sure you keep a lookout for our review of the season finale!
