GG Precinct Netflix Review

GG Precinct Netflix Review

As a genre, crime comedies just work, and the most recent examples are The Instigators and Hit Man. While these movies might not be on track for an Academy Award, they are fun, easy to watch, and get plenty of viewership from all across the globe. Joining the list of crime comedies is a Taiwanese series on Netflix, GG Precinct.

If you watch Netflix more than any other streaming platform, chances are you have heard of GG Precinct, and for all the right reasons, the trailer was truly hilarious!

We have been excited about the release of this series for quite some time now, and in this review, we will reveal whether or not it deserves a spot on your watchlist!

Hilarious, Clever, and Captivating!

GG Precinct has 6 episodes, which means if you are someone who likes their series short and sweet, this already checks the box, and the episodes are long enough to give enough room for the story and characters to develop.

With an eerie and bloody start paired with stunning opening credits, GG Precinct was off to a strong start. We do believe that the fate of a series rests in the hands of the pilot episode, and this Taiwanese series was keen to impress.

Detective Wu Ming-han is back from his sabbatical and more than ready to take on a new case and dive straight into work, but he also makes sure that he and the people around him are having a good time, including the Chief who has recently been promoted.

Just when Ming-han thinks he’s about to be made captain, the position is taken up by a woman instead, whom Ming-han appears to despise because of their past.

Viewers love a strong female character, and Lin Tzu-ching is exactly that. The first episode of GG Precinct is a well-done introductory episode, as it establishes the main characters, what they do, a little bit about their best, and essentially everything we need to know about what to expect from the series. There will be comedy, action, and plenty of change in dynamics.

Some scenes in GG Precinct felt exaggerated, but that appeared to be a part of the comedy genre in this Taiwanese series, and while it didn’t always work in its favor, we did understand the intention behind it.

While comedy was paid plenty of attention to, don’t be fooled because the crime genre was also very evident, and shockingly flinch-worthy.

There have been multiple murders, plenty of blood, gruesome detailing, and so much more that we weren’t really expecting from GG Precinct, but it certainly enhanced the overall quality and helped support the narrative.

P.S. If you’re watching this series, we also recommend watching the source material, Marry My Dead Body, as GG Precicint is a spin-off series of the movie!

GG Precinct wasn’t one-of-a-kind, as we had expected momentarily, but despite that, it is fun and engaging. This series also fits perfectly into Netflix, and plenty of credit must go to Greg Hsu and Gingle Wang for their exceptional performances in all the episodes!

Conclusion

Crime comedies have yet another wonderful addition to their list, as GG Precinct is now officially streaming on Netflix. Do let us know in the comments below what you thought about this Taiwanese series!
