House of the Dragon was able to gradually become a favorite of the viewers despite being seen with apprehension initially. The fantasy drama series started in 2022 and was a success. The second season is currently going on and has managed to engage the viewers.

What Is House of the Dragon All About?
House of the Dragon is a prequel and it is also a spin-off of the popular show Game of Thrones. Ryan Condal created it with George R. R. Martin and it’s adapted from the latter’s 2018 book which was called Fire & Blood.
Miguel Sapochnik was the showrunner in its first season. The storyline is set nearly 200 years before Daenerys Targaryen and focuses on the downfall of the House Targaryen as they fought over a succession of the throne.

What Happened In The Previous Episode?
House of the Dragon Season 2 Episode 2 was called Rhaenyra the Cruel and it was released on June 23rd, 2024. Sara Hess wrote it while Clare Kilner was the director. King Aegon (played by Tom Glynn-Carney) is angry over the killing of Jaehaerys and attends a meeting of the Council.
The funeral is held in public view, after Ser Otto Hightower’s (Rhys Ifans) suggestion and Rhaenyra is blamed.
Meanwhile, Blood reveals that he, along with a ratcatcher, was hired by Daemon. Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy) has an argument with Daemon over his ordering the killings. He then goes to Harrenhal. Ser Arryk is asked by Sir Criston to eliminate Rhaenyra by posing as his twin brother Erryk who is the guard of the queen.
He eventually enters the chamber and kills Arryk in front of Rhaenyra. Filled with guilt, he dies by suicide. Otto is angry with Aegon after all the ratcatchers are killed. He is then dismissed from his duty as the King’s hand.
What To Expect From House of the Dragon Season 2 Episode 3?
House of the Dragon Season 2 Episode 3 is directed by Geeta Patel. It will pick up right after Erryk kills Arryk as Rhaenyra witnessed everything and he killed himself. This means a further escalation and deteriorating situation between her and Aegon which will lead to war. Meanwhile, the killings have affected the nice image Rhaenyra has had.
Max has released a one-minute and five-second long promo of the episode which showcases Rhaenys stating that they will not remember what led to the war. She then says that reason is forgotten when the idea of killing overpowers a person. It is followed by Criston Cole, the new hand of the king, telling Aegon that they cannot wait for the war to come to them.
To which Aegon says, ‘to war then.’ Meanwhile, Daemon is doing something secretly and Rhaenyra doesn’t know his whereabouts. House of the Dragon Season 2 Episode 3 will also have many scenes involving dragons as shown in the promo.
One of the characters also says that it would mean their destruction if dragons started fighting each other. This is a hint at the war that will happen soon.

House of the Dragon Season 2 Episode 3 will be released on June 30th, 2024 on HBO and on Max through subscription. The duration of this episode will be around an hour. This season will have eight episodes in total.
