Walt Disney Studios has officially released the teaser trailer of the much-anticipated musical movie, Mufasa: The Lion King. Over several decades, The Lion King has witnessed several renditions across different kinds of media, and this time around, one particular character will be under the spotlight, and shockingly enough, it isn’t Simba. As the title suggests, Mufasa: The Lion King tells the story of the beloved character, Mufasa, and this movie will be directed by none other than Barry Jenkins.

Several people have been looking forward to Disney releasing a trailer or teaser trailer of Mufasa: The Lion King, and now that it is finally here, not everyone is too thrilled about it. In fact, the response to the teaser trailer has been overwhelmingly negative, and we’re here to give you a little glimpse into what people have said about Mufasa: The Lion King on social media so far!

When is Mufasa: The Lion King Releasing?

The official release date of Mufasa: The Lion King is still months away, as the upcoming live-action musical is set to be released on December 20, 2024. Interestingly enough, that is the same day as the release date of Sonic the Hedgehog 3, which means Mufasa: The Lion King will have some tough competition when it comes to the box office numbers!

So while people patiently, or impatiently wait for the release of Mufasa: The Lion King, Disney will continue to release glimpses of the movie, much like the recent teaser trailer. The teaser is just over 90 seconds long and showcases a range of animals and the CGI that is being used in Mufasa: The Lion King, and while it does look impressive, the internet’s response hasn’t reflected the same.

Internet Responds Negatively to Mufasa: The Lion King Teaser

On X (formerly known as Twitter) several people have responded to Disney after they shared the teaser trailer of Mufasa: The Lion King on the social media platform. People have expressed their thoughts on the teaser, the movie, and also Disney as a whole. One user wrote,

“STOP MAKING THESE,” and another said, “We will not be watching.”

The internet continued to respond to Disney on the social media platform as one person wrote, “I speak for everyone when I say “we will not be watching” and another wrote, “It comes out the same day as Sonic 3. LOL Good luck, Disney.”
So far, the response has been negative, and it will be interesting to see if people change their minds closer to the release of the movie. One user also expressed on X, “The CGI already looks bad for a movie made 10 years ago. The movements are unatuaral and jerky. The characters don’t fit cleanly against the background. Not gonna waste money on this dog poo. More Disney trash.”
