What Happened At The End of Queen of Tears Season 1?

tvN’s Queen of Tears Season 1 ended with its sixteenth episode. It showcases a mention of the accident that Baek Hyun-woo (played by Kim Soo-hyun) met. Later, Hong Hae-in (Kim Ji-won) meets Yoon Eun-sung (Park Sung-hoon) as he reveals his plans to marry him.

Given the situation in front of her, Hae-in has to play along with him for now. Meanwhile, Hyun-woo is looking for her. The episode also has a shocking revelation surrounding the death of Hae-in’s brother. It was actually Seul-hee responsible for tampering with the boating that carried him which led to his demise.

Later, Hae-in and Hyun-woo are out of the hunting ground. A thrilling situation follows which leads to Hyun-woo getting shot as he tries to save Hae-in. Eun-sung is shot by the cops and dies. Luckily, the viewers are joyed with the news that Hyun-woo has survived.

Grace is arrested and Seul-hee also pays the price for her deeds. The Queens Group is brought back by the Hongs. Hae-in and Hyun-woo are reunited again and they also share a daughter several years later. The final scene takes place in 2074 and we see an old Hyun-woo paying tribute to Hae-in who is dead.

Will There Be Another Season?

So far, the makers have not confirmed if they have commissioned Queen of Tears Season 2. It is unlikely that the show will return for a follow-up season since the first season ends on a very conclusive note. It features Hae-in and Hyun-woo living a happy life together and sharing a child as well. The ending saw a time jump which hinted that Hae-in later dies.

What To Expect From It?

The team of Queen of Tears has revealed that a special epilogue will be released in two parts on May 4th and 5th. It will feature the return of the main actors who will answer questions that are asked by the show’s fans. Names like Kim Soo Hyun, Kwak Dong Yeon, Kim Ji Won, Lee Joo Bin, and Park Sung Hoon will appear. At a point, they will be also shown reading comments in front of audiences.

If Queen of Tears Season 2 happens, it can explore some plot points that were not explored enough in the previous season. This includes the storyline of Secretary Na which might get more attention. The dynamic that Da-Hye and Soo-Cheol shared with each other is worth exploring more in the next season.

We know that Eun-sung has been pursuing Hae-in since college. He used to manipulate her and then helped her. All this did not sit well with her which is why she rejected him. Their track can be shown in a closer look by the makers.
