Abigail 2: Is It Confirmed? Everything We Know About The Sequel So Far

The vampire horror movie “Abigail” was just launched in US and UK theatres. The film, which was directed by “Scream 6” directors Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, is based on the 1936 film “Dracula’s Daughter”.

The plot revolves around a bunch of thieves who abduct a vampire who happens to be the daughter of an underworld boss. As the vampire escapes and seeks revenge, fatal consequences follow. The audience liked the movie very much and they are wondering whether they will be getting another sequel. So, let’s see if we are getting a sequel.

What Is Abigail All About?

In “Abigail,” Alisha Weir portrays the titular character, who is revealed to be the daughter of the powerful vampire Count Dracula, played by Giancarlo Esposito. Unaware of Abigail’s true identity, Melissa Barrera’s character Joey heads a gang of crooks who unintentionally kidnaps her. Dark truths start to surface as the night goes on, sparking an exciting and fierce struggle for survival where the lines between good and evil become more hazy.

In the middle of the turmoil of the kidnapping, the movie explores Abigail’s dual nature as a predator and victim, navigating her supernatural background. The character’s portrayal by Alisha Weir effectively conveys the character’s range of emotions and internal turmoil as she faces her captors and unleashes her vampire powers.

Joey, played by Melissa Barrera, is a representation of the human antagonist; she is forced to deal with forces she doesn’t fully comprehend while playing a deadly game. When the crooks realise their serious error and confront Abigail, a tough antagonist, the tension increases.

Within the framework of a riveting vampire horror story, the movie delves into themes of identity, power, and morality, keeping viewers on the edge of their seats until the dramatic finale.

Will There Be A Sequel?

A sequel to “Abigail” is quite possible since the first movie had an open ending. Joey’s escape from the mansion after encountering Kristof Lazar (Dracula) sets the stage for further exploration of Abigail’s vampire lineage and the repercussions of her awakening.

Although official confirmation of a sequel is pending, the unresolved plot threads and potential for expanding the vampire universe indicate that a sequel is a distinct possibility. Fans eagerly await news of future developments in this thrilling and supernatural saga.

What Could The Story Be About?

With Joey emerging as the only survivor of the ordeal with Abigail, the movie’s surprising conclusion provides a strong basis for a follow-up. With Joey and Abigail’s uneasy partnership against Frank and Matthew Goode’s significant cameo as Kristof Lazar, there’s plenty of space in the sequel to explore new storylines and characters.

Directors Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, as well as Melissa Barrera, have said that they would like to return for a sequel. Barrera has even hinted at Joey’s change into a vampire in possible plot points, which bodes well for exciting events. Given the directors’ track record with successful follow-up storylines from the “Scream” franchise, the sequel could benefit from their ability to write gripping sequels.

A deeper examination of the vampire mythology presented in the first movie, with an emphasis on Joey’s changing role and Abigail’s ancestry, is what fans can expect. The possibility for character development and the extension of the paranormal world created in “Abigail” bodes well for the next sequel. Fans are excited to see more of this sinister and exciting story as “Abigail 2” talks and planning moves forward.
