On a parallel journey, Layla takes her first steps toward healing by seeking therapy. However, when her engagement becomes a topic of discussion, Layla’s defences rise, revealing deeper issues beneath the surface. Through counselling, Layla faces her anxieties and insecurities and learns how her history has influenced her choices in the present.

In a heartwarming scene on “All American,” Laura gathers her kids, including newborn Spencer, to tell them about a unique discovery regarding letters Billy wrote to the twins. Although Spencer didn’t receive a letter, Laura presents him with Billy’s journal from when Spencer first joined the Baker household. Initially hesitant, Spencer ultimately accepts the journal as Laura insists Billy would want him to understand his feelings.

Letters of Love and Encouragement

As Jordan reads his letter, Billy encourages him to stick to his principles. This starts a conversation with Mac about the impending draft and his football career. Jordan chooses to believe in Coach Kenny and himself despite his initial reservations, even though Mac later voiced his doubts on a podcast.

Jordan challenges Mac about his lack of faith, and in the end, he decides to have trust in his skills and the encouragement of people who genuinely believe in him.

In “All American,” Spencer gets a heartfelt peek into Billy’s mind when he initially moved in through his journal. Billy talked about the difficulties of growing up as a teenager and his realization that Spencer required direction and constant encouragement.

At first, Billy wasn’t sure about Spencer moving in with the family. After giving it some thought, Spencer is better able to comprehend Deion’s situation, which leads him to arrange for Deion and his sister Tasha to have a reunion.

Olivia, meanwhile, finds it difficult to open her letter from Billy since she is so overwhelmed by the feelings triggered by her father’s comments. With slight encouragement from Spencer and a nostalgic nod to Season 3, Liv finally reads her letter. Billy gives Liv much-needed closure in the letter by expressing his love and faith in her.

This touching moment helps her come to terms with her father’s passing and motivates her to honour his memory by sharing his story with the world.

At the episode’s conclusion, after Billy’s letters had provided much-needed comfort to the kids, Laura tenderly kissed a framed photo of Billy. Though Laura couldn’t see him, Billy briefly appeared on the other side of their bed, smiling warmly at his wife. This moving scene perfectly captured the episode’s emotional depth and showed Billy’s enduring impact on his family.
