The series has already covered almost all the major portions of the source material. Plus, the war coming to an end and many character deaths do not warrant another season. A lack of confirmation from the makers on the same further cement that they will not return for another season.

If Shōgun Season 2 happens, it should pick from the point of the first season’s ending. It can focus on Toranaga as he tries to piece his life together after the war has ended.
