Sylvester Stallone headlined the crime drama series Tulsa King which premiered in 2022. Created by Taylor Sheridan and Terence Winter, the series was released on Paramount+ and met with a positive critical response. It marked Stallone’s first leading role in a television series in the scripted format. The first season was gritty and was loved by people across the board for its content as well as its performances.

What Happened In The Previous Season?

Tulsa King tells the story of Dwight Manfredi aka The General who is a Mafia capo. He finishes serving a prison sentence of 25 years and is sent to Tulsa, Oklahoma where his boss tells him to start his criminal organization. In the second last episode titled Adobe Walls, Dwight and Mitch start training their inexperienced guys to shoot amid the threat from Black Macadams.

Stacy visits Waltrip, who is the villain of the entire story. She tries hard but realizes that she cannot implicate him in a murder case. Meanwhile, Jimmy partners with Dwight and Mitch as they plan to open a casino of their own. Chickie, on the other hand, decides to eliminate Dwight with his family.

He then calls Dwight to further his sinister plans for the murder. Waltrips men start shooting right after Stacy meets Dwight again. She ends up being wounded after the shootout. Subsequently, cops arrive but Dwight is detained and questioned by them.

In the ninth and final episode of the series called Happy Trails, we get to see Armand calling Dwight in a panic when Ripple is found chained to a radiator. In a 1997 flashback, we see Dwight getting arrested for saving Ripple from burning alive while the entire house is on fire.

At the current time, Waltrip orders his men to kill Dwight and his crew. Chickie, Vince and Armand reach Tulsa to finish the plan but they are confronted by Dwight. He asks Bodhi to hack Waltrip’s computer and his bank accounts. A fight breaks out subsequently and Dwight kills Waltrip in a fist fight.

Later on, Dwight conforms to his daughter Tina. He also meets Stacy who accuses him of bribing a federal officer. Dwight is then taken into jail again to everyone’s shock. Turns out, he was set up by Stacy.

What To Expect From Season 2 Of Tulsa King?

The makers have confirmed the second season of the series right after the first season aired. The shooting of the second season is going to take place in Atlanta. Unlike the first season which takes place in Oklahoma, the second one will be placed in Atlanta. A new setting means multiple perspectives and a fresh take on the gripping storyline of Dwight.

Toward the end of the first season, Dwight goes back to jail. The second season can start where the first ended. It will chronicle how he deals with the legal trouble caused by being set up by Stacy. It can also touch upon the fallout from Chickie’s decision which involves leaving the family. The production has not started as of now, but it will be kickstarting this year.

Do We Have A Release Date?

Sadly, no. The makers haven’t announced the release date of the much-awaited second season. However, looking at the timeline of the first season, we can expect season 2 of Tulsa King to end shooting by the end of 2024. So the follow-up season can be released on Paramount+ somewhere between March and April in the year 2025.

Similar to the first season, viewers can expect the second season to also have around nine episodes. Each episode should focus on Dwight’s criminal adventures in the town.

Who Will Be In The Cast?

Much of the star cast of the first season of Tulsa King can be expected to return for the new season. Sylvester Stallone will be returning as Dwight Manfredi as he is the anchor of the entire story. Other names like Martin Starr (Lawrence ‘Bodi’ Giegerman), Max Casella (Armanda ‘Manny’ Truisi), and Andrea Savage (Stacy Beale) can also return.

Apart from them, Caolan Waltrip (played by Ritchie Coaster) won’t return since the character was killed in the finale episode. We can also expect new faces in the second season since the location will be set in a city in Atlanta.


Tulsa King is created by Taylor Sheridan who is known for penning acclaimed titles like Sicario, Hell or High Water, and Without Remorse. He has also directed films like Wind River and Those Who Wish Me Dead. All these films dealt with grim human stories and had strong actors at the peak of their craft. These films turned out to be well-received and even achieved commercial success. Prior to Tulsa King, he has helmed projects like Yellowstone, 1883 Mayor of Kingstown and others.

With Tulsa King, he ups the game with gritty writing and tight direction. Stallone knocks it out of the park with his performance of a character who is a tough nail. But at moments, he also shows signs of vulnerability. The character is trying to set up his criminal activities in Tulsa right out of jail. In the new city, he meets new people and his life takes a different course.

Fans have been eagerly awaiting for a second season ever since the shocking finale dropped. The complex storyline accompanied by strong performances worked wonders for the viewers.
