X-Men 97 is an animated television series that is streaming on Disney+. It is created by Beau DeMayo and is based on the superhero team X-Men from Marvel Comics. The series works as a revival and continuation of X-Men: The Animated Series which ran between 1992 and 1997. The ’97’ in the title refers to the year the previous series ended from where the story continues.

What Is X-Men 97 All About?

The maiden season of X-Men 97 starts right after the events that took place in X-Men: The Animated Series. It showcases the team of superheroes facing a set of different challenges. They are also dealing with the tragic death of Professor Charles Xavier who was their mentor and leader. Ray Chase has lent his voice to Scott Summers aka Cyclops in the series while Jennifer Hale has voiced Jean Grey.

Apart from them, the series also has Alison Sealy-Smith (Ororo Munroe/Storm), Cal Dodd Wolverine/Logan), J. P. Karliak (Morph), and Lenore Zann (Rogue) among others.

What Happened In X-Men 97 Episode 2?

The second episode of X-Men 97 is titled Mutant Liberation Begins and it was released on March 20th, 2024. It showcases Magneto who doesn’t kill the militants who have anti-mutant sentiments.

We see both Jean and Cyclops don’t trust him but Rogue feels for him. Valerie Cooper is heading the forces of the UN and reaches the X-Mansion for the arrest of Magneto and he surrends without resisting.

A trial takes place at the headquarters of the UN where X-Cutioner and their FoH army attack the venue. Storm gets shot while trying to save Magneto during the attack. Luckily, he ends the attack, and the UN provides a pardon to him.

A talk takes place to merge the Genosha towards the Union. Later, Jean delivers a mutant son who is called Nathan. Storm is told by Beast that she has lost her powers in a permanent manner due to a radiation blast. This results in her leaving the X-Men team. The episode ends with a Jean lookalike showing up.

What To Expect From X-Men 97 Episode 3?

X-Men 97 Episode 3 is called Fire Made Flesh and it should explore the clone of Jean who shows up at the end of the previous episode. Her arrival will directly impact the group. The makers might also focus on Storm who leaves the group to embark on a different journey. Another important character is Magneto who will be shown in the upcoming episodes.

Apart from that, the series will also get into new territories surrounding the mutants and the resistant forces. The second episode leaves a lot of questions that should be answered in the forthcoming episode.

X-Men 97 Episode 3 is scheduled to release on Wednesday, March 27th, 2024 on Disney+ at 3 am (ET). The first season of X-Men 97 will have ten episodes in total with the final one releasing on May 15th, 2024. The last three episodes are called Tolerance Is Extinction and are planned as a part of one storyline. The runtime will be 30 minutes, similar to the previous two episodes.

X-Men 97 comes at an exciting time when the superhero genre is not going through a good phase. The audience was getting a feeling of fatigue. But luckily this series is not like the rest and has a very interesting take on the story.

It takes off from X-Men: The Animated Series and beautifully tells the story of the namesake group of superheroes. X-Men is a popular group and is loved by the fans. The series format allows the makers to go all out without the restrictions of live action.

Essentially, they create all the things that were mentioned in the comics. It makes the series very loved by hardcore fanatics of the series. So far, the makers have dropped two episodes and they got a warm response. Now, we are looking forward to the third episode.
