Deliver Me: Netflix’s Latest Swedish Crime-Drama Ticks All The Boxes

Deliver Me

Netflix’s latest Swedish crime drama series is now streaming on Netflix and delivers brutal, gut-wrenching performances and messages that will make you want to watch the entire series in one sitting. Deliver Me written by Alex Haridi and Amanda Högberg is based on a novel by Malin Persson Giolito, and does complete justice to the literary piece.

Admittedly, Deliver Me might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but in hindsight, this is the kind of story that deserves to be heard by everyone. So, if you strictly watch comedy, romance, or horror, we urge you to put your bias away for Deliver Me and give it a watch on Netflix. As a platform, Netflix has done an outstanding job in 2024, giving home to several international shows and movies!

Deliver Me on Netflix Delivers Extraordinary Performances

When it comes to the big picture, Deliver Me is a story about one incident gone wrong with the involvement of drugs, gangs, guns, and more.

However, when you actually sit down and dissect the entire series, one episode at a time, or even a few minutes of an episode at a time, you see that although Deliver Me has been set in Sweden, the diversity in the cast, and the narrative solidifies the fact that this is a recurring problem all across the world.

Without giving away too many plot details of Deliver Me, we will highlight one of the most important aspects of the series which helped put the message across, in addition to making Deliver Me a splendid watch.

The writing. Every little dialogue exchanged between several characters over the span of five episodes had something special about it. There was pain in almost every episode, and while there were a handful of action sequences scattered around, more of the pain was derived from the dialogues in Deliver Me.

Deliver Me is a breezy watch, yet heavy at certain points, which might make you want to take a breather from time to time because you can’t help but feel for the characters, especially Douglas Arnfeldt, played by Olle Strand. At a very young age, Strand delivered an outstanding performance in the Swedish series, which also makes Deliver Me a tear-jerker at certain points.

Conclusion

Netflix‘s latest series is as dark as it gets with several themes explored in the span of five episodes and there’s almost no happy, light-hearted moment to look forward to. While Deliver Me doesn’t offer a unique premise to the viewers, the narrative and performances are more than enough to keep the show in the binge-worthy category.
