It has been a while since fans of Euphoria got any update for its highly anticipated third season. Recently, Sydney Sweeney has given an update on the shooting of Euphoria Season 3. Read on if you are a fan of the show and want to know what she said.

What Is Euphoria All About?

Euphoria is centered around a teenage girl named Rue Bennett (played by Zendaya). She is seen abusing drugs and is fighting to remain sober while also navigating her friendships and relationships with others. The story also focuses on other important characters in the series like Alexis Howard aka Lexi (Maude Apatow) who is her best friend.

Other characters include Fezco Fez O’Neill aka Fez (Angus Cloud), Cal Jacobs (Eric Dane), Madeleine Perez (Maddy), Nathaniel Jacobs aka Nate (Jacob Elordi), Katherine Hernandez aka Kat (Barbie Ferreira) and Jules Vaughn (Hunter Schafer). All of them are dealing with their share of problems in life.

Euphoria is inspired by an Israeli namesake miniseries. Its first season premiered on June 16, 2019, on HBO and concluded on August 4, 2019, and it had eight episodes.

The first season was well received and the makers returned with the second season which also had eight seasons. It aired between January 9, and February 27, 2022. Apart from the two seasons, there are also two special episodes that aired on December 6, 2020 and January 24, 2021.

Sydney Sweeney Updates On Euphoria Season 3

In one of her interviews, Sydney Sweeney (who plays Cassandra Howard) has revealed that she is heading to shoot Euphoria Season 3. The actress did not reveal the date or if she has read the script. But she said that she is excited to reunite with the cast members and called it her home. The third season of Euphoria is set to drop sometime in 2025.

The finale episode of season two was called All My Life, My Heart Has Yearned for a Thing I Cannot Name. It follows Cassie interrupting and ending the play. She confronts Lexi for it but eventually receives an attack by Maddy. The play reaches its conclusion and is cheered by the audience.

Fex meets Custer and realizes that he works as an informant for the cops. Ashtray finds out about it and stabs Custer. Subsequently, cops barge in and a shootout takes place between them. Ashtray is shot dead by them while Fez receives bullet injuries. He is eventually arrested by the police.

With all the intimate videos of Cal in a drive, Nate meets him. However, cops show up and arrest Cal. Post the completion of the play, Jules confesses her love for Rue. In the end, Rue meets Elliot and reveals that she has been sober all along.

Who Will Be In The Cast?

Two people will be missing in Euphoria Season 3. This includes Barbie Ferreira who exited the show after the second season due to creative differences. Another one is Angus Cloud (Fez) who tragically passed away in 2022. The main cast will return including Zendaya (Rue), Maude Apatow (Lexi), Alexa Demie (Maddy), Jacob Elordi (Nate), and Sydney Sweeney (Cassie) among others.

What Can We Expect From Season 3?

In February 2022, the makers of Euphoria renewed it for a second season. Zendaya has said that in Euphoria Season 3, we can expect some amount of happiness and joy for the character of Rue. She has further revealed that the upcoming season might touch upon the sobriety of her role.

One of the crew members has revealed that it will take around five years after the event of the last season. The character of Ali might get more space this time around.


Euphoria is known for its realistic depiction of drug abuse and the visual representation of its aftereffects. Unlike most shows and films, it doesn’t portray a glossy picture of teenagers’ lives. It has also received praise for its showcase of struggles of sexuality and body image issues among the younger lot. For over two years, fans have been eagerly waiting for the third season.

With the recent updates on its shooting, we are hopeful that it will surely return to the screen in 2025. Till then, we can enjoy the previous seasons.
