Meanwhile, Cortland does not tell Jojo the reality of his obsession with Rowan. At the same time, Ciprien finds out that it was actually Cortland who ordered the execution of Deirdre. Talamasca was responsible for removing all the psychic traces at the scene of the crime. Towards the end, we see Rowan getting trapped in the vision. Cortland takes a heavily pregnant and unconscious Rowan toward the Mayfair mausoleum.

Rowan then wakes up to find out that Lasher will return as her child. With the help of Suzanne’s spirit, Rowan goes into labor and delivers a baby. After that, Rowan turns Cortland into stone for forcing themselves on Deirdre. Ciprien then tries to steal her child, but Rowan manages to leave with her newborn baby.

What To Expect From The Season 2?

The first season was filled with many twists and turns and a strong ending. Thankfully, there is good news for the people who are waiting for its second season. The makers had announced in February 2023 that they would be coming up with a follow-up season.

The second season is currently in the production stage in New Orleans. Halfway through the first season, the makers greenlit the first season considering the warm response it was receiving. The production was supposed to start in early 2023 but hit a roadblock due to the writer’s strike in Hollywood.

Esta Spalding, the showrunner of Mayfair Witches, has said that the second season will be covering the second book in Anne Rice’s trilogy. AMC has also teased that Rowan won’t be the only main witch in the entire story.

Do We Have A Release Date?

While there is no release date as of now, we can make a rough estimate as to when the second season might premiere. The shooting of the second season is very likely started. The first season went on the floor in the spring season of 2022 and was released in 2023 during the winter. Hence, the second season will be available in less than a year when its shooting concludes.

Who Will Be In The Cast?

Alexandra Daddario, who plays the lead role of Dr Rowan Fielding, is sure to return for the second season. Besides her, Jack Huston (Lasher), Tongayi Chirisa (Ciprien), and Harry Hamlin (who plays Cortland Mayfair) will also come back. There are some new additions to the cast as well.

These include Thora Birch (Gifford Mayfair), Ted Levine (Julien Mayfair) and Alyssa Jirrels (Moira Mayfair) who will be joining the second season. The addition of new faces in the much-awaited season has generated a lot of hype around the new season.

The first season also witnessed the death of several characters including Tessa (played by Madison Wolfe) who was Rowan’s own cousin. Apart from her, Rowan’s mother Deirdre (played by Annabeth Gish), and aunt Carlotta (played by Beth Grant) were also killed off. Until and unless it’s a flashback scene, it’s highly unlikely that these characters will be shown again in the second season.

Overall, Mayfair Witches remains a much-talked-about show. It was particularly loved by fans of the horror and supernatural fantasy genre. The series successfully managed to stay true to its source material while also making necessary changes to suit the medium driven by visuals.

Alexandra Daddario, along with other cast members, delivers really strong performances with earnestness. Oftentimes, things go over the top in such genre pieces. However, Mayfair Witches remains an exception as it strikes a fine balance between fantastical and realistic.

While one can go overboard, the makers do their best to stay within the rules of the universe of the story. While the initial episodes were met with mixed response, the later episodes were loved and the show enjoyed strong viewership. This is a testament to the fact that it was able to cut through the genre glass and get the views of people who are not into fantasy or horror films or shows.

Since the announcement of the second season, fans have been waiting with bated breath for new updates. It is particularly special for people who have read the books and know how the story will take turns. But the visual adaption gives life to all those words and makes it an interesting and immersive experience.

We can expect the second season to go on the floor as soon as possible so that the audiences can get to enjoy it in no time. With strong writing and direction as well as powerful performances from its lead cast, Mayfair Witches remains an enjoyable watch.
