Parken Finn had written and directed Smile and he had based it on his own 2020 short film called Laura Hasn’t Slept. The film is about Rose Cotter (played by Sosie Bacon) who is a therapist. One day, one of her patients dies by suicide and it really affects her.

This leads to her having weird experiences of supernatural origins. The film was released on September 30th, 2022, and became a major success.

How Did The Film End?

Towards the end of the film, Rose goes to her home, which is owned by her family. The curse of the ghost might not work if she dies without anyone surrounding her. She sees her mother who is actually a supernatural entity and is attacked by her.

A fire is accidentally lit and it apparently kills it. Rose leaves and goes to the apartment of Joel (Kyle Gallner) where the latter is smiling at her.

This was not real. Rose’s phone location was traced by Joel. She goes there and the entity is shown in its real avatar. Rose is eventually possessed by the ghost and enters her body. Joel encounters Rose who is smiling and sets her on fire. The curse is now passed on.

Is Smile 2 Happening?

The makers revealed in April 2023 that Smile 2 is in the works and Parker Finn will be once again the writer and director of the film. Many successful horror films have been getting sequels for decades.

However, Smile 2 is special as there were many clues and subplots that were planted in the first installment. These will be explored in the upcoming sequel which makes it an exciting entry in the installment. Viewers are expecting to be better and a worthy entry than the first one.

Who Will Be In The Cast?
