The Regime is an American miniseries in the political satire genre. It is created and written by Will Tracy and stars Kate Winslet who used to be a physician and is the chancellor in Central Europe. Her position gets seriously shaken because of the turmoil that takes place in the political sphere.
The series premiered on March 3, 2024, on HBO and Max and so far, three episodes have aired. All of them have met with critical acclaim and fans are eagerly waiting for the fourth episode. Read on if you want to know more.
What Is The Regime All About?
The Regime follows the story of a palace where the totalitarian regime is falling apart. The focus is on Elena Vernham aka Lenny (played by Kate Winslet) who is the chancellor. She gets nervous about her position and starts forming a bond with a former soldier Herbert Zubak (played by Matthias Schoenaerts). The story witnesses many turns as Zubak tries to have a grip on Elena.
What Happened In The Previous Episode of The Regime?
The third episode of The Regime called “The Heroes’ Banquet” shows the chancellor making a big decision. The relationship between Elena and Zubak is affected as he tries to push his ideology in the palace. As the Faban Corridor is annexed, she calls it a legally sound and lawful decision. This is condemned by NATO. With the invasion, she is happy that her name is in the news again.
Herbert also wants to introduce new laws and reforms for land. He quickly realizes that Elena doesn’t like him. A party takes place to celebrate the annexation and it’s attended by Herbert and Elena.
What Could Happen In The Regime Episode 4?
The third episode of The Regime ended on a dramatic note. Herbert is seen physically attacking Emil and Elena for which he gets arrested. The fourth episode is titled Midnight Feast it will pick up from where the last story ended. We will witness if Elena will forgive Herbert for trying to kill her or get him in jail. Considering her nature, it is unlikely that she will let him go that easily.
Because of the annexation, there is a high chance that powers can impose sanctions on her country. However, Elena thinks that she has handled her foreign policy well. If the sanctions take place, this would directly affect the normal population of her country since most of them live a life of poverty. A civil war or unrest can happen that could further shake her position.
Throughout the series, we see Agnes doesn’t really like Elena. This has been evident on many occasions. It further deteriorates as we see a change in the character after her son Oskar is taken away by Elena via removal of custody. In the upcoming episode, the audience can witness Agnes working towards dethroning the chancellor to get her son back.

The Regime Episode 4 will be released on Sunday March 24, 2024 on HBO. It will be also available on the streaming platform Max via subscription. The episode’s runtime is estimated to be around 57 minutes.
Do We Have A Trailer?
We have an official trailer for The Regime. Apart from that, the makers also released a preview video for the fourth episode. The one-minute and four-second-long teaser starts off with the chancellor’s voice towards her people. She talks about the ‘times of great challenge’ while clicking pictures with the caviar food.
This establishes the hypocrisy in her character. Elena then says to her people, ‘Don’t believe the lies. There is no unrest. There won’t be a downfall. There is only a renewal of our love.’ We also see Herbert in a jail cell as he gets irritated with her voice. All this while, her country is facing many challenges.
Who Will Be In The Cast?
The principal starcast will return for the fourth episode as the story will pick up from the previous episode. Kate Winslet (as Elena Vernham), Matthias Schoenaerts (Herbert Zubak), Guillaume Gallienne (Nicholas Vernham aka Nicky) and Andrea Riseborough (Agnes) among others will be seen in Episode 4.
