The Sympathizer has turned out to be a massive success thanks to its theme and plot. The series showcases an interesting perspective about Vietnam and the war through the POV of their people. So far, six episodes have been out since the series premiered and all are well received.

What Is The Sympathizer All About?
The Sympathizer is the creation of Don McKellar and celebrated South Korean filmmaker Park Chan-wook; they are also the showrunners. The series is adapted from Viet Thanh Nguyen’s eponymous novel which was released in 2015. He won a Pulitzer prize for this book. It is about a Captain (played by Hoa Xuande) who is from North Vietnam but was a part of the army of South Vietnam.
Just when the Vietnam War is ending, situations force him to leave for the United States where he starts living with refugees. Meanwhile, he is also a spy and continues to deliver information to his bosses in Viet Cong.
Chan-wook as well as McKellar have also executive produced the show with Robert Downey Jr., Viet Thanh Nguyen, Amanda Burrell, Ron Schmidt, Amanda Burrell, and Jisun Beck among others. The Sympathizer was released on April 14th, 2024.
What Happened In The Previous Episode?
The Sympathizer Episode 6 is named The Oriental Mode of Destruction and it was released on May 19th, 2024. Marc Munden directed it while Chan-wook, Anchuli Felicia King, and Don McKellar were the writers. The Captain finds out that General (played by Toan Le) is planning to send several soldiers on a secretive mission to Thailand.
Eventually, all of them will have to go to Vietnam also for a reason. We see that Bon (Fred Nguyen Khan) makes a very courageous move as he also decides to go with the soldiers. Meanwhile, Captain is assigned work for Rita who is the spouse of Ned Godwin (Robert Downey Jr.). He also meets Sonny (Alan Trong) for the same. Later, he is explained by the General that Bon is the person to go for this mission since he doesn’t have a family or anyone.
A major event happens when Sonny is shot to death by Captain. This was a part of the killing of many journalists with American and Vietnamese roots back in the 1980s. Captain is unable to burn all the manuscripts he stole from Sonny after Bon comes to his house. Captain then goes on General’s mission amid Sofia suspecting him being the killer.
What To Expect From The Sympathizer Episode 7?
The Sympathizer Episode 7 is named Endings Are Hard, Aren’t They? and its helmed by Munden and the script is written by Chan-wook and McKellar. The finale will have Claude inviting Captain and the others right before they move to Thailand for the mission. The Captain will be confronted with some anecdotes that might shock him. There will opposition regarding the mission since there are chances that it will fail.
The Sympathizer Episode 7 will connect us to the earlier scenes that are set in present. Captain’s mission might fail and he will be eventually captured by the army of North Vietnam.
