It is officially May 4, 2024, aka May the Fourth, which is more popularly known as Star Wars Day. This franchise has seen immense growth over the years and is comparable to some other big franchises like the Marvel Cinematic Universe and DC. This is why, we’re here to celebrate this year with you!

In the last few years, Star Wars has seen growth in the number of series that have found themselves a home on Dsiney+, one of the most used and accessible streaming platforms available globally. In this article, we will share our list of top 5 shows that belong to the Star Wars franchise, and why you need to stream them immediately!

The Mandalorian

With three incredibly successful seasons so far, The Mandalorian belongs at the top of our list and several reasons. This series takes place after the defeat of the Empire and follows a lone bounty hunter, away from the dominion of the New Republic.

His adventures might be risky, but truly are one of a kind. The cast of this series includes several notable actors and actresses including Pedro Pascal, Gina Carano, Carl Weathers, Giancarlo Esposito, and Emily Swallow amongst others. The Mandalorian is beautifully crafted with acute attention to detail that makes it worth a watch!

The Bad Batch

While live-action is always a treat, animated series have their own charm which can’t be ignored, and one such series that had to make it to our list on Star Wars Day is The Bad Batch. This series takes up after the Clone Wars and the premise revolves around a group of clone troopers who are involved in several missions across the galaxy.

Aside from a promising plot and three very successful seasons, much like The Mandalorian, The Bad Batch also boasts a brilliant voice cast including Michelle Ang, Dee Bradley Baker, Jimmi Simpson, Wanda Sykes, Rhea Perlman, and Noshir Dalal. If not for the plot, The Bad Batch deserves a watch for the animation!

Andor

Unlike The Mandalorian and The Bad Batch, so far, Andor only has one season, however, despite that it has gained a lot of popularity amongst Star Wars fans, some of whom have often labeled Andor their favorite series on Dsiney+. Who doesn’t love a good origin story? Andor does just that as it tells the tale of Cassian Andor.

Admittedly, Andor was more appreciated by a mature audience as it deals with deeper themes, but has been one of the best shows in the Star Wars Universe. The cast of this series includes the likes of Diego Luna, Adria Arjona, Stellan Skarsgård, Faye Marsay, Denise Gough, and Andy Serkis amongst several others.

Ahsoka

One of the more recent shows of the lot is none other than Ahsoka which is also one of the most critically acclaimed shows belonging to the Star Wars franchise. With 86% on Rotten Tomatoes, Ahsoka garnered a fan following after its release in August 2023. Although the series has been out for less than a year, the story of former Jedi knight Ahsoka Tano has been loved by many.

Rosario Dawson plays the role of Ahsoka, and other cast members who have joined her in this series are Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Ray Stevenson, Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Hayden Christensen, David Tennant, and Ivanna Sakhno.

Tales of the Jedi

This list of series on Disney+ would have been incomplete without the mention of Tales of the Jedi. With a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, Tales of the Jedi was critically acclaimed and loved by all despite having only 6 episodes, which focused on Ahsoka Tano and Count Dooku. Although this series was renewed for another season, it has been replaced by Tales of the Empire, as per Screen Rant.

Despite the replacement, it doesn’t discount the success of Tales of the Jedi, and the Tales of the Empire will also explore characters like Morgan Elsbeth and Barriss Offee, so there’s plenty to look forward to.
