As far as the whole series goes, The Atypical Family Episode 10 has to be one of our favorite episodes so far. This isn’t only because of how it drove the narrative forward, but also for how brilliantly the actors performed. There was something about this episode that truly stood out amongst the others, and it finally feels like Netflix‘s latest K-drama is on the right track as it heads toward the final few episodes.

The Atypical Family Episode 10 had equal amounts of romance, drama, and shocking elements, which turned out to be the perfect recipe, and exactly what this K-drama needed at this point of the show. In this review, we will talk a little more about what worked best in the latest episode, along with some key moments!

Will Bok Gwi-Ju Die in The Atypical Family?

In the previous episode, Mrs. Bok’s breakdown made it evidently clear that Bok Gwi-ju will die sometime in the near future because he attempts to save Do Da-hae’s life. The latest episode, aka The Atypical Family Episode 10 begins with Da-hae and Gwi-ju in a car, which eventually meets with an accident, and the only person alive is Gwi-ju, and Da-hae is nowhere to be found.

Most of the episode then takes place a few days before the accident, where we witness Mrs. Bok telling Da-hae that Gwi-ju’s death is inevitable, and the least that Da-hae can do is give him a few more happy memories. Although that’s how Da-hae first approaches the problem, she later realizes that if she simply removes herself from Gwi-ju’s life, it could save him.

Episode 10 had a mix of everything, and fans will get to witness some really sweet moments between the two main protagonists, along with Da-hae’s struggle of knowing that these moments are only temporary. This episode was heartbreaking for viewers because it confirms that Da-hae has strong feelings for Gwi-ju, which he definitely reciprocates.

Ultimately, we learn that Da-hae, with the help of her uncle’s assistance was able to fake her own death and settle down in a remote village where she can’t be found. Meanwhile, the Bok family realizes that Da-hae’s “death” will save Gwi-ju from dying. However, their bubble bursts soon enough when Gwi-ju’s daughter tells them he’s gone to find Da-hae.

The Atypical Family Episode 10 ends with Gwi-ju and Da-hae reuniting, where Gwi-ju tries to understand why she did this. Now, even though the two of the have reconnected and are alive and well in that moment, how long can it really last?
